That’s Me—and I’m Struggling”

I hear this all the time.
Someone sees my before photo or when I suffered with bloat and says,
“That’s me right now.”
They whisper it through a screen.
Quietly.
Sometimes with tears.
Sometimes with shame.
But always with hope.
Because somewhere deep down, they’re not just saying “That’s me.”
They’re also asking—
“Could that also be me… over there?”
Pointing to the in-between.
Or to the after.
Here’s the truth no one tells you:
I didn’t get “there” by being stronger than you.
I didn’t have more time, more money, or more motivation.
I had one thing: a moment where I was sick of my

excuses.
And then I started—
In a basement,
With chaos,
With little kids climbing on me,
With no idea what I was doing.
I didn’t wait to “figure it all out.”
I started while I was still struggling.
If You’re Struggling Right Now…
You’re not broken.
You’re not lazy.
You’re not too old, too late, or too far gone.
You’re just in the middle.
And that’s the hardest place to be.
Because when you’re in the middle, the beginning feels like a joke…
And the “after” feels like someone else’s life.
But the middle?
The middle is where strength is born.
It’s where we stop starting over.
It’s where we stop chasing quick fixes.
It’s where we learn to trust the process—
Even when it feels like nothing’s happening.
Because underneath the skin, behind the soreness, through the doubt…
Something is happening.
What I’d Tell the “Me” in That First Photo:
Don’t wait to feel ready.
Eat with purpose, not punishment.
Move your body like it’s a gift.
Forgive yourself faster.
And document it all—because one day, someone else will say, “That’s me,”
And you’ll be their proof.
If that first photo is you right now…
Know this:
You’re not stuck.
You’re just starting.
And I’m right here with you.
